Prepare your family visit
The visit is accessible from age 3, with activities adapted for younger children. The tasting and baking workshops are generally offered from age 7, so that children can fully participate and enjoy the experience. The route is accessible to strollers.
The self-guided visit lasts on average time between 1.5 and 2 hours, depending on the family's pace and the desire to participate in the activities. If you add a discovery workshop or an additional activity, allow yourselves approximately 2.5 to 3 hours to fully enjoy the experience.
Of course! Tasting is at the heart of the visit. Children can discover different chocolate flavors, adapted to their age, and participate in fun sensory experiences. Parents also enjoy sharing this delicious moment with them.
According to current european regulations, there are 14 major allergens. Our chocolates do contain allergens (hazelnuts, almonds, gluten, etc.). A sign indicating the allergens is available at each tasting point. If you have any doubts, please don't hesitate to ask one of our advisors or staff members.
Yes, the Valrhona shop is open to all visitors. You will find a wide selection of chocolates, gift boxes, and exclusive creations. You will also find a whole range of children's products: lollipops, marshmallows, and chocolate sticks featuring the mascots Lili and Zoco. It's the perfect opportunity to take home a delicious souvenir or give a gift to your loved ones.
The Cité du Chocolat has a restaurant where you can have lunch or enjoy a sweet treat. Menus are available. We offer child-friendly options, as well as desserts showcasing Valrhona chocolate. On sunny days, feel free to enjoy our gardens for a break or a delicious picnic. A playground specially designed for children is also available.
Yes ! The Cité offers special packages for children's birthdays (ages 7 to 11). The program includes a quiz, a baking workshop to make cupcakes and cookies, a festive snack, and a small surprise for the birthday child. A unique experience to blow out your candles in a chocolate factory.
The Cité du Chocolat Valrhona is located in Tain l’Hermitage (Drôme), easily accessible by car (parking nearby), train (Tain l’Hermitage train station is a few minutes' walk away), or bus. We don't have private parking; the nearby parking lots are all free and less than a 5 minute walk from the Cité du Chocolat. However, please allow extra time to find a parking space.
Prices vary depending on the children's ages and the activities chosen. Admission is free for children under 3, reduced price for children aged 3 to 5 and 6 to 12, as well as for teenagers, and full price for adults. Family packages and additional workshops are available to enhance the visit.
It is advised to book your tickets online, especially during school holidays and weekends, to guarantee your admittance and choose your workshops. Birthdays and special activities must be booked in advance. However, you can show up on the day without having booked in advance.
The visit is self-guided and interactive, but workshops led by instructors or pastry chefs are offered as an add-on. These guided sessions allow you to delve deeper into the experience and enjoy an even more immersive adventure.
