From 20 March, the Cité du Chocolat Valrhona invites you to plunge into two exciting worlds through its new temporary exhibitions: ‘Together for a Sustainable Future’, in partnership with the Slow Food movement, will make you aware of the impact of our food choices on the planet, while ‘Graines de Pâtissier’, supported by the Valrhona Foundation, will highlight an inspiring programme that gives hope and a future to young people who are far from employment thanks to the pastry-making professions. These exhibitions are fully in keeping with the spirit of the Cité du Chocolat, a place dedicated to discovery, transmission and commitment. As well as these immersive tours, you can extend the experience with our exclusive workshops on sourdough and sweet focaccia, where gourmet delights and traditional know-how come together.
An unmissable opportunity to explore, learn and taste in a whole new way!
Discover our new exhibition in partnership with the Valrhona Foundation's ‘Graines de Pâtissier’ programme
Graines de pâtissier aims to transform the lives of young people who are far from employment. Every year, 100,000 young people leave school without a qualification or a job, while our customers worry about the future of their profession. This innovative programme aims to get these young people back into work by connecting them with passionate craftspeople and the pastry-making profession. At the Cité du Chocolat, we believe in passing on our passion. That's why we're delighted to host the ‘Graines de Pâtissier’ exhibition, a programme that gives young people aged 16 to 25 a second chance by opening the doors to the world of pastry-making.
For 4 to 6 months, these passionate young people follow a three-stage path:
- Getting ready: learning the basics of life skills and brushing up on their skills.
- Practice: first steps in the laboratory and immersion in training.
- Experiencing: work placements with committed craftsmen to learn in real-life conditions.
Since 2017, more than 550 young people have tried the adventure, and more than half have found their way into the culinary professions. A human and inspiring exhibition, where each portrait tells a story, each gesture reflects a passion and each success is a victory.
